Hi,
pls. let me explain my problem:
I have a camera, shooting photos numbered eg. P1000001.jpg, P1000002.jpg ..., while
videos are named 00001.mts, 0002.mts... On the SDCARD all have correct
Timestamp with date and time set to the recording date and time, ok.
Running on Win10.
Now I copy (sync to empty directory) this files with freefilesync. The photos are copied completey
correct with date and time exactly the same as source.
But the videos are copied with correct name, extension, DATE but TIME is set to 00:00.
When I check with explorer I can select extra columns, in column "modification timestamp"
the correct (date and) TIME is shown, but not in the standard "creation timestamp".
Strange thing is that freefylesync compare these files as ok even if times shown in explorer differ.
Even stranger is, that the same files copied WITH WINDOWS EXPLORER the timestamp
date AND TIME is correct.
Result of this behaviour is that it is impossible to sort mixed photos and videos by timestamp,
as all videos from the same date have time as 00:00.
By the way, same problem with teracopy, so it might be hidden in some api.
Any thoughts on this topic?
Thanks,
Harvey

You already seem to know how to make Windows Explorer show extra column(s).
Simply have Windows Explorer show the extra column you need, and then sort on that column.

Hi Plerry,
yes, but this is useless, because I have to import everything into the import window of my
videoeditor, where the "order by timestamp" only uses the wrong timestamps. From there
I can insert into the editors timeline, but with wrong sequence if previously copied
with freefilesync.
I prefer freefilesync to windows explorer (which is copying the correct timestamps!)
because I see what will be copied.
So there are some workarounds for some situations, but at the heart of the problem
there is something broken deep in freefilesync.

I think the issue here is that you want file creation times to be copied from your MTP device (which FFS currently does not do) the same way that file modification times are copied. So this comes down to a feature request to support copying file creation times from an MTP device to a local disk. Why is it not possible to sort the videos by modification time?
