time remaining is 6840 days...
sync target is on NAS and hard disk on my LAN

Readyshare seems to have some speed issues in general.
https://www.google.com/search?q=readyshare+slow&ie=UTF-8&nfpr=1
might want to even do some manual testing see if you are having issues in general with that device.

Intel NASPT might be gettin a bit old but still pretty solid for testing none the less.
fwiw, QNAP NAS products are worth their weight in gold in my personal experience if you actually want something consistent & reliable.

thanks drivetheory
did some testing with my usb readyshare connected to my router
i copied from my desktop to it (and also from it) a large file (1.4 GB) and got speeds of around 10 MB/s in both cases
so culprit seems not to be readyshare...
any other idea??

what's in the FFS log? does it get stuck on the same file every time? does it get stuck on adding new files or updating existing files?
have you tried testing with FFS using a small set of test files to rule out variables?

in fact, FFS never gets completely stuck
the speed is decreasing sharply and leads to time remaining to complete the sync of several thousands of days
therefore i cannot identify a single file on which FFS gets stuck

Process Monitor might also be of use in this instance.

For what it's worth, Sysinternals Suite should be on every PC to begin with! Sooo many great tools for troubleshooting things.

I am also getting a hanging issue just with some folders synching to a NAS - seagate personal cloud from an attached seagate external usb drive, and it disconnects the NAS at same time meaning have to power it off then on again to work but synch does not resume -remains hanging with circle have to force quit program.
Also where do I find the log file to check for errors?
