Just how do I install FreeFileSync 8.2 in Ubuntu ??

I'm running Ubuntu Mate 16.04.
I've downloaded FFS 8.2, unpacked it and it runs by clicking the FFS icon.
I'd like to 'install' it so the file associations and menu icons work as previous versions did in Ubuntu 14.04
I've followed the instructions on launchpad, but it doesn't work, even though it selects Ubuntu Xenial in the DEBs.
If I edit the PPA to Wily it installs and runs FFS 7.7, then pops up a message saying 8.2 is available.
How can I 'install' 8.2 so it runs with all the associations etc. in place please ??
