When I was running Windows 8, FreeFileSync would Sync folders between two computers over my Local Network when scheduled as a task in Windows 8 Task Scheduler. At the time I was using version 5.2.1. On 10-25-13, I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and have not been able to do a sync since then when executed through Windows 8.1 Task Scheduler. At some point, I upgraded to FreeFileSync 5.2.2 but am not sure if that occurred before upgrading to Windows 8.1 or not.
While on Windows 8, the FreeFileSync batch executable was saved as FreeFileSync.ffs_batch. Now that I'm on Windows 8.1 the executable name that is created is BatchRun.ffs_batch. This might be a result of a different batch file name being generated by version 5.2.2 compared to what version 5.1.1 created.
I can manually execute (double click) the BatchRun.ffs_batch under Windows 8.1 and the sync will execute successfully. But if I enter 'some drive letter':\FreeFileSync\BatchRun.ffs_batch as an argument to the program FreeFileSync.exe as the executed program on the Actions Tab of Windows 8.1 Task Scheduler, the Task keeps running forever. Apparently the FreeFileSync processes never complete even if there is nothing to synchronize. If I end these processes through Task Manager then the task will complete but syncing doesn't occur.
I do not know if this is an incompatibility between Windows 8.1 and FreeFileSync or if there is just a bug in FreeFileSync version 5.2.2 (version 5.2.2 was released earlier in October before the release of Windows 8.1).
This is a notification of a potential bug and/or request for a solution to this problem whether it be a bug or me just not setting up the scheduled task correctly.
FreeFileSync will not sync in batch mode scheduled in Windows 8.1 Task Scheduler
