Hello!

I've been a fan of FFS for windows for some time and have just recently switched over to Linux.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a desktop link to FFS on my Linux Mint 18 desktop.
I want a shortcut to click on so that I can open the program easily.

Could you please include some instructions on how to set this up?

Thank you
Sincerely
CR

Hi,
Is this a difficult solution? It should be easy and do hope that someone will be able to provide the answer.

I don't know the Mint file manager and I use Dolphin in the Ubuntu environment because I don't like Nautilus. However the following might give you some ideas on how to make it work.

In Dolphin just drag FFS from the directory where it runs to the desktop directory in the file manager (not the desktop itself). As you unclick to drop, a menu appears with the last option to drop as a link.

In Nautilus, right click on FFS in the directory where it runs and use the "Make Link" option. It will create the link in the same directory labled "Link to ...". Just drag and drop it onto the desktop directly.

There is command line method but I'm a mouse monkey so you would have to look that up online yourself. Also you could search online for how to make a link in your file manager.

Hope that point's you in the right direction. Good luck.

Thank you for your replies

I was able to get it to run by creating a launcher on the desktop and then pointing the executable to /opt/FreeFileSync\ (2)/FreeFileSync where I had placed the FFS files. It worked!

Find the icon in your menu and drag-n-drop the icon on either your Desktop or your panel.
