Hi,
I'm from germany.
I always used the portable version of FreeFileSync and have it 'installed' in C:\Programme\FreeFileSync , I think in english windows it's C:\program files\FreeFileSync
The update to this folder was no problem till version 8.3 - now if I want to update it in this folder, the installer shows this message that the portable version can't be installed in chosen folder:
What's the problem, it always worked in earlier versions? What can I do?
Thanks!

"C:\Programme" is meant for program files only, not configuration data. The portable version however stores its configuration together with its program files. If you ignore this convention, you'll see access denied errors on program exit and your configuration being lost.

But everythin worked fine all the time till version 8.3? So what should I do now, install the portable version in another folder outside of Programme?

I think you're on Windows XP where admin is the default, so yes it's not a problem there. Still "local installation" makes more sense anyway since it has benefits like FFS file type registration that the portable version doesn't have.
