Version 8.9 created an ffs_tmp file on my external drive for a file that was being synced. Now FFS locks up when trying to process this file. I am unable to delete the file manually. Everything I have tried locks up every application I try to use. How can I remove this file so that FFS will run again? I am using Windows 10. I am stuck trying to back up my system.

PS. I was finally able to delete the file by re-booting the computer into Safe Mode. Not the most elegant way to fix the problem.

I had the same problem occur today. Is there a workaround for this issue? The file in question was being copied from my C drive to a Lexar USB flash drive. This is becoming a bit of a nuisance.

It happened again yesterday copying htm files to my Lexar USB flash drive. I was able to have the file removed by running another sychronization program but this is not acceptable. I am unable to delete the file manually without resorting to re-booting the machine.
Any response on this?

Sounds more like a general issue with the USB drive rather than something that could be caused by FFS.

Here is the solution:
1.- Select the file (<filename>.ffs_tmp).
2.- Right click and select PROPERTIES.
3.- On PROPERTIES window click on SECURITY tap.
4.- Group or user...: EVERYONE.
5.- To change permissions, click EDIT.
6.- Permissions for EVERYONE.
7.- ALLOW column.
8.- Click on FULL CONTROL box.
9.- Click on APPLY.
10.- Click on OK.
