Many "Cannot copy file" errors

Get help for specific problems

I'm using FFS on a network drive, and up until a few months ago everything was syncing fine. I think it was around 8.0 or maybe later that I started having this problem.

An ever-increasing number of my files just won't copy. I get errors like the following:

Cannot copy file
"C:\filename" to
"z:\filename.ffs_tmp".

Error Code 50: The request is not supported. [CopyFileEx]

At first it was only a few files. But now I'm up to about 3.2GB worth of stuff, including a lot of important files. The weird thing is some stuff *does* sync - I did a sync today where about 300GB of video files did sync over. But not those trouble files.

The other weird thing is that they're all recently created or modified files. Some sort of permissions thing? The video files that did sync today were mostly recent too, though.

If I hook the same drive up directly to my PC, it syncs fine. I've done this a couple of times, but of course this defeats the purpose of having a network drive.

I've tried running FFS as administrator to see if that fixes any permissions issues, but then it doesn't work at all. It keeps popping up the Windows network credentials dialog for the drive, then refusing the username and password that I know is correct (I've literally set a new password, then fired up FFS and have it deny the password I just set). So I have no idea what's going on.

I'm using Windows 10 if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any help. About at the end of my rope here.

Does it help if you disable menu->tools->options: fail-safe file copy?

Well, that didn't help, but I'm starting to suspect the problem may actually be my router. Last night I determined that it actually does work for a little while if I disconnect the network drive and then set it up again. It's a seemingly random amount of time, which may be why it seems like some files work but others don't. So it's probably not FFS's fault. At some point I'll try a different router and see if that does anything.
