backing up some fles from a folder to an external drive folder

I want to be able to extract specific files from a folder (using wildcards and a unique label within filenames) and back them up to a folder on a different drive (not on a LAN). Is there a way to do this? I looked for a way in the online manual, but saw nothing helpful. Thanks for any reply.
