I downloaded the "FreeFileSync_9.1_Debian_8.8_64-bit.tar.gz file and successfully used the program on Linux Mint 18.1/18.2.
I downloaded the "FreeFileSync_9.2_Debian_9.0_64-bit.tar.gz file today and it fizzles. It does nothing. So, I figured I would report this as the poster did on July 4th so that a new version that actually works could be put up for download as soon as possible. Of course, until then, I'll just keep using version 9.1 as it works fine.
If anyone wants to make a claim contrary to my post I'd love to be proven wrong. Confirmations of my post are welcome also.
Thanks for reading!

As with all these cases where the binary does not work on Linux: Run FreeFileSync from the command line and see what error messages you get. You'll then see which dependencies are missing, install them, and FreeFileSync will run fine. Bonus: Request that Linux Desktop environments implement sane usability, i.e. report an error message on failure instead of *doing nothing* as you have experienced.
