If this has been brought up already and answered than I apologize. I looked through the forum and the online manual/FAQ and didn't see an answer so here I am.

Anyway here's my problem: at work my partner and I each have our own laptops and usually end up working on the same files, at different points in time. We recently had the company buy a NAS for us to connect to and have it work as such that when one of us has finished a job (file) that it will be saved to the NAS and that is where we open our files from. This way we are always working on the most up to date version of the file.

Unfortunately we can only use this when we are on the network in our office, so if we are to do work from home and aren't on the network we cant save directly to the NAS and we run into trouble where we open the file off of our respective computers, save it on our computers, then come into work and upload it to the NAS to find that potentially one of us has saved over the others work.

I've been told that we can use FFS to keep folders synced even if we aren't on the same network, I just haven't come across any instructions on how exactly to do this. So what I'm trying to do is have the same files be on each computer, fully accessible and when changed/saved on one computer, it becomes updated to those changes on the other.

If anyone can tell me if this is indeed something that I can do and how to do I would be very very grateful.

This is what FreeFileSync's "Two Way Synchronization" is for with its capatbility to detect conflicts (=files changed on both sides).

Thank you for the fast response Zenju! I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

For the "Two Way Synchronization" to work, both laptops will have to be on a network together correct? This might end up being a workable solution for us, but is there a way to have the laptops sync together so long as they have ANY internet connection..? Rather than just when they're on the LAN at our office?
