Sync issue

I'm syncing my laptop with my desktop on regular intervals. In total there about 25,000 files to sync. When I commence the sync the first 12,000 or so are immediately processed (using sync.ffs.db I presume?). The remaining files are processed one at a time thus extending the compare times significantly.

Is this normal behaviour or is there a problem with sync.ffs_db database? If so how can I correct this?
