I'm trying to backup my hosts file from a Windows system directory but get his error:
8:46:30 PM Warning Cannot set directory locks for the following folders:
Cannot write file "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\sync.ffs_lock".
I click the ignore button but the hosts file isn't copied.
Can this be down or am I SOL?

Never mind. I ran the program as administrator (even though I AM an administrator) and it worked.

Hello,
I want to synchronise the hosts file:
to other network machines,
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts to:
\\10.0.0.2\c$\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Under Windows 10 &11, folder security permissions are set.
I have taken control of the folder and granted administrators full control,
but it still won't sync.
Can you please tell me what security permissions to set,
in order to sync the hosts file to other network machines
Many thanks,
Phil

Like Rob_S said above, try running FFS as Administrator.

Also a note, being an administrator is not the same as running something as administrator. The built-in administrator account has elevated privileges. Microsoft is kinda unclear about it
