FFS does not cope with almost similar file names

Hi all,

I am currently syncing 2 NAS and today FFS stopped with a number of warnings and I wandered why, because I copied my music archive from one NAS to a new. So at the destination there was nothing but space. After syncing it twice the errors kept alive and FFS showed me a list of hundrets of files that should not exist on the destination NAS. SO what is wrong here?
So, I used another well known tool, Beyond Compare and got the same result. Also a copy from NAS1 to NAS2 with the option to overwrite existing files lead to the same result, the orignial files did not match with the destination files!
Strange, isn't it? Even if I deleted everything on the destination and run the copy again it showed the same anoying result. How this could happen is another story and caused by iTunes, probably.
So, what was and still is the problem: I had a look in the NAS data explorer and found two files with almost the exakt and same filenames! The only difference was a capital "Of" in one musik file name and an "of" in the other. So, I wander if the tools FFS and BC does not differentiate between capital and lower characters. Okay, I thought, this might be a special problem on the NAS running a Linux operating system. So, I checked it also on my Windows7 computer and I saw the same, two almost identical filenames (with different file sizes and dates)! What really disturbes me is that either FFS and BC did copy any file randomly from right to left but compared yet another twins afterwards leading to error messages and inconsistancies. I checked this now with a Mac and you guess what? Also the Mac OS shows both twins correctly (li.e. lower or upper cases).
Did someone find the same problem? Could it be helped by a setting somewhere?
Best regards,
Peter
