Include files inside subfolders

I want to include ALL files within subfolders in the folders I'm syncing (in the left-side folder). I used the * in the "Synchronization Settings" panel but while it DID show the folders and the files in the list, it DID NOT find those same files in the right-hand folder even though I know they are in it (I opened the right-side folder and the files were there). The reason I'm doing this is to delete duplicate files from the right-side folder but if they're not showing as "=", then I can't delete them.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm running FreeFileSync on a Mac running Catalina OS.
