File versioning scheme troubles

Dear developer,

I've been using FreeFileSync in Mirror mode + versioning for quite some time
to achieve some sort of incremental backup of my files. I could really easily
restore files by just getting the most recent datetime stamped versioning
folder and copy it back to the source folder. This was all quite ideal
pre-5.7. But from 5.7 with the new versioning scheme restoring has gotten a
lot more difficult. Say I want to restore to the latest version:
- I have to find out somehow what's the date of the most recent backup. Afaik there's no easy way to do this. I'd have to look at all files and find the latest version datetime.
- Even if I can find the latest sync datetime, I have to find a way of copying them and not the others. I admit this can be done through a FreeFileSync job.
- I'd have to get rid of the datetime stamp in the filename with some sort of batch rename tool.

My suggestion would be: please re-implement the old versioning into datetime
stamped subfolders and without renaming the files themselves. Possibly this
could be optional so the current versioning scheme can be kept for the users
who prefer it.

My second, somewhat unrelated suggestion would be to (possibly optionally)
autocreate a subfolder named after the source folder in the versioning folder.
That way I can just use the same versioning folder for most of my jobs.

I'd love to hear your thoughts,

This still needs some design work: identify relevant scenarios and
requirements, and ideal implementation:

This seems important, yet good solution needs to be found.

Thanks for your feedback!

I am not much sure about FreeFileSync but i came across with a website which recently features a remarkable cloud storage feature; File Versioning. You can get file versioning support from a day to unlimited days, by paying very low cost.
