Hi, I dragged and dropped a master file of folders with a bunch of images into
my external drive last week. When I compare via "File Content" enabled, a
bunch (thousands) of identical images show as different on both drives?? I
dont need or want 20 gigs of duplicates created on both drives. I dont
understand why this is happening. Most of the images (99.9%) were copied to
the external drive via drag and drop of the master folder, from the internal
only last week..... Thanks!
Why are identical files appearing in Compare?

There are thousands of files on both sides that show as missing from each
side. About 2000 from the internal (the source) and 6,000 from the
destination. I also had a weird thing happen when I tried to re start the
compare. I hung and said waiting for files to lock or something like that.
Went a couple minutes so I shut down and restarted with different options for
copoying locked files. Something wrong with the synch still. Should not be
this many files that show different on each drive.

Can you narrow this problem down to a single file pair that is not categorized
as you would expect and describe the details?

No, not really, I copied the entire directory onto a different drive and now
running a "mirror" onto my permanent ext drive. Its says its going to create
600+ files and delete 2,000+ ...... Hopefully once they are synched once this
will be the last of it.
Can you comment on the file lock problem I had? I could see a file in the
folder I was trying to copy called "ffslock, ffs or something similar.

FreeFileSync places a directory lock file (sync.ffs_lock) into both source and
target directories during comparison and synchronization. This makes sure only
a single FreeFileSync instance is operating on the files; a requirement to
serialize multiple users on network shares. For a single user or if the
directory is not used by another instance, this should be hardly noticable.
If you unexpectedly see "Waiting while directory is locked" then either a
second instance of FFS is running in the background, or an old instance did
not properly write the lock file (e.g. was terminated by the user) so that it
became corrupted. In this case the new FFS instance monitores the file and if
it does not detect changes, considers it as obsolete after 30 seconds.
