I connected my android phone via usb and select a target directory there (mtp:\....)
When I try to sync I get:
Error code 0x80040000: Invalid OLEVERB structure [IPortableDeviceProperties::SetValues]
If I copy the same file manually (drag and drop in Windows file explorer), it copies fine
What's going on?

Windows 10? Other issues from the web point to Windows corruption as the main cause. Any updates you can do? Repair install of Windows?

Yes, windows 10.
I can try it from my laptop which is also windows 10 - if that works it points to some setup on my pc

What about local phone storage? I would run:
sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sfc /scannow
in an admin command prompt. Yes, sfc twice, before and after dism. Others with the same issue seems to resolve it by fixing OS corruption. A repair install to Windows may be in order
