My feature request is simple: Provide a checkbox in the synchronization options that files are moved ordered by their size, with small files first.
I have two arguments for this change:
1) From my experience, small files have a strong tendency to be more important and irretrievably than large ones.
Small files could be something like a seminar thesis or the pictures of the last vacation. These are unique files which no one else (or a small group of people) has and which are therefore very hard (or even impossible) to restore if they get lost.
Large files on the other hand are mainly video files. They are most likely a copy of some movie. These are very likely things that are easier to restore in case of a data loss. (Because they are publicly available in some way.)
2) Let's assume that during the backup, the hdd with the original data breaks and is dead.
The question now is, in which order should FreeFileSync process files so that the amount of work needed for restoration is minimal.
Most likely, the amount of (manual) work depends more on the number of files to restore than on their size.
These are the two arguments I would make for an option to transfer files in the order of their size.
