Or will FFS make files sparse if the destination filesystem allows it even if the original file was not sparse?
thx
Are Files copied as sparse only if the source is sparse?

On Windows (on Win7) on copying (a sparse file) from local disk to local disk, sparse is preserved (from what I can see).
AFAIK, FFS does not have any method to copy a non-sparse source file as (to) a sparse target (file).

Yes, it does preserve sparseness, I know. As it does read each block anyway, it can as well allocate it sparse on destination if the source is not- well, in principle - the question is whether it actually does. And if not, whether this would be a good idea for even further increasing the capabilities of this nice tool.
