I'm kind of new to FFS, I've been trying to sync the C:\ProgramData and C:\Users folders over to another drive and its working for most of it but I'm also getting some 400 odd errors (I let it finish despite the errors). They are mostly split into "This file is locked by another process", "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND: The system cannot find the file specified" and "ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access is denied".
I've tried looking up how to fix those and from what I'm understanding I should already have solved it but that's clearly still not the case.
for the "ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access is denied" i would need to start FFS with administrator rights, which I'm already doing.
For "This file is locked by another process" i ticked the two check boxes under Tools/Options in FFS called "Copy locked files" and "Copy DACL, SACL, Owner, Group".
I don't know about "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND" though. I've actually only seen it now that i scrolled a bit deeper into all the error messages.
What do i do?

Why are you backing up ProgramData in the first place?
These are permission errors because MS is protecting the files. You can run FFS as admin to mitigate that, but I can't think of a reason to back up ProgramData. The individual user folders are protected as well, so accessing another users data requires extra steps as admin

i read somewhere that software can put config files in either AppData or ProgramData and that i should backup both. But either way i gave FFS admin permissions so it should work, shouldnt it?Why are you backing up ProgramData in the first place?

but if you say backing up ProgramData makes no sense in the first place then i can just get rid of that.
I'm the only user for this PC and i do have admin permissions. i guess i can just move it one folder down and actually only backup my specific user folder. The individual user folders are protected as well, so accessing another users data requires extra steps as admin xCSxXenon, 28 Oct 2022, 21:19
