I don't permissions is a possible explanation. To my knowledge, this is a Mac-based destination disk. I think they user was doing an update. It’s not clear why FFS was trying to update items already in the destination.

is probably 'corrupt' and can't be deleted by FFS to write the new version. Try deleting the file manually
It’s not just this one file, but possibly a few dozen. Also, it’s not clear why FFS is trying to replace them because I think the user is “updating”, and I don’t think these files have changed since when they were first written.
We ran into this again and were able to open files on the target. This implies the target files aren’t corrupt.

Not necessarily true. VLC can open corrupt files and play them until it reaches a corrupt section. It's possible that the file isn't fully corrupt, but enough that there's an issue. Try performing to copy manually
