Linux Mint uses bash for the shell. What does Kubuntu use? If it's different, could FreeFileSync somehow ...

Without knowing Linux or specifics thereof, see if perusing these gets you going?
And I'll assume that your "terminal" is using a shell other then sh?
Likewise, if you ran sh, then (at this point in time) typed in, kompare, you would get the very same "command not found".

It's an interesting issue, and I agree that it's not good to ignore differences. I think we need to understand why a file may have leading or trailing spaces. If it could be intentional, yes, I agree that FFS should treat differences as differences.

BTW, I realize this won't help most people here, but if it helps anyone, FreeFileSync supports dark themes quite well in Windows 7. You just create a dark theme for the OS, and FreeFileSync will use that dark theme.

I agree that it would be very nice to have the option, for OS / file systems that support it (e.g. Windows NTFS volumes), to specify that the target folder will be compressed by the operating system.

Even when using the FreeFileSync command line parameter to specify a custom global config file of `D:\FFS_Settings\GlobalSettings.xml` and also using `D:\FFS_Settings` for all `*.ffs_gui` (and using `D:\FFS_Settings\Logs` for all log files), FreeFileSync still writes to the user's `Roaming ...

When you get the referred to warning in the FreeFileSync (FFS) GUI, you have the option to checkmark not to get that warning any more in the future. That should resolve your issue.
