When it breaks, can you move files to/from gdrive - (with some other application, Windows Explorer perhaps?) outside of FFS?

This isn't exactly what I have experienced but might be similar.
Are you running on Wi-Fi?
If so, to debug the situation, try to limit the amount of TCP connections you have (the amount of active connections being sent to the router by programs on the computer) -usually closing your web browser ...

The problem started couple months ago (at least 2 version back).
Quite often/but not always, when syncing with gdrive, the routers traffic up ability goes down completely or almost completely. Only way to restore it back is restarting the router.
