Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
This must be the result of some graphics driver/hardware issue, based on my experiences
What are your system specs and what graphics driver version are you guys using?
It's been happening to me for at least 10 years and I have had many different computers over the years, and it has always been ...

Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
I also have this same issue with long running tasks. I am running Windows 11 currently and 13.4 Donation Edition. Would be really nice to figure out the source of this. As others have mentioned, the only fix is to fully reboot which is pretty excessive.
If anyone finds any other tricks, please ...

Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
@therube , Are you one of the FFS programmers? I am not versed in programming or if stuff gets too technical, but is there something I should do or do differently, or should the program get a tweak as this has been experienced, OR should I just live with it?
As I stated in my original post ...

Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
@therube sounds similar. I don't know exactly the reason it happens, but it only happens (sometimes) with FFS. Your example might help track down why. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
Thanks for the instructions! And my notifications went to spam. Anyway you can see the attachment now, you can see a blank window with a top border and thin line frame. It is transparent and it is from FFS. I can only get rid of it by rebooting.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Re: Complete window "burns" into desktop
It just happened again. This time when minimizing FFS, not closing it. I haven't got any notifications of replies here, but I thought I'd check back. Thanks for the suggestions, but as I said, it's happened on several computers over probably 10 years and they didn't all have the same version of ...

Complete window "burns" into desktop
Hi,
I have had a minor issue with FreeFileSync on many versions of FFS and Windows, and several different computers over the years.
Sometimes after it does a sync, the Completed Successfully window seems to etch itself onto the Windows desktop. Not the whole window, but most of the border. You can ...

Re: NAS to NAS
Is there a simple way to exclude from C:\users\Me\appdata\roaming, any folders that have cache as part of the folder name? What would be the best way to exclude those folders?
If you want to exclude all folders and files comprising "cache" in their name, simply add a line
*cache*

Re: NAS to NAS
It may even not be much slower than via a direct NAS-to-NAS connection.
I got the new NAS yesterday and am playing with it. I found the direct internal copy/sync program and you are right, it does not appear to be lightning fast, but it does not display stats while copying.
One of the folders I ...

Re: NAS to NAS
Thanks, I suspected as much. Can FreeFileSync be installed on a NAS or will I have to look elsewhere for a program to do NAS to NAS transfers?

NAS to NAS
I use FFS to copy/sync files to and from local drives, and to and from my PC to network (NAS) shares. In those 4 examples, the path the files take is obvious.
If I have on my NAS bay1 mapped as a network driveN and bay2 as driveO, and I want to copy or sync the files from N to O, USING FREEFILESYNC ...

Re: copy changes to alternate folder
@Plerry Your suggestion is the solution I was looking for. I had some confusion at first. I had in FFS the path to Folder1 and Folder2 (Update). At first I couldn't figure out where to press CTRL-T, but eventually figured it out.
The files that were NOT in Folder2 were listed in the first pane and ...

Re: copy changes to alternate folder
looks like some good stuff that WILL help after I feel better (kidney stone), but a quick glance also looks like an answer to a question to a question I haven't asked yet about renaming TV episodes.
I just woke up in pain, but thanks(!) for your reply and I will look closer after I feel better.

copy changes to alternate folder
Hello,
I'm new here and have a question.
I have a folder of my music that I share with my neighbor. He will bring over his SSD and I will compare my folder with his folder and copy the new files from my SSD to his SSD (FFS Update).
He is not as fussy on tagging files and other details, but he ...
