Re: compare says <item not existing> for files that exist

I don't want to actually sync..I'm just doing a compare to find the 2 actually missing files on one side,
but being thwarted. I often have problems with FFS not really looking at files like Finder does when it comes to resource forks as separate "dot" files, etc....but I haven't run into it giving ...

Re: compare says <item not existing> for files that exist

Yes, the directory trees inside the 2 folders are supposed to be the same,
but finder says one has 368,317 items and the other has 368,319 items,
so I was trying to find the missing 2 files via FFS, but it lists almost 600 files as missing.
The "missing" but not really missing files have subpaths as ...

compare says <item not existing> for files that exist

I'm comparing (doesnt matter which flavor) a folder on external drive of local mac, and internal drive on a mac on the LAN.
While 372,000+ files compared successfully, 582 were listed as not existing in the folder on the LAN mac.
I can see the supposedly missing files via finder, and can open them ...

Re: Glitch on Sync/Mirror <Item not existing>

Hate to rain on anybody's parade, but I just found this forum/post looking for what's going on with 11.11 running on my system and getting several hundred (out of 372K files) showing up as "item not existing" even though I can see them and open them via Finder.
The drive with the supposedly missing ...

Re: content comparison - how does it compare?

hmmmm...I have files that repeatedly show as not equal by FFS (latest version), but when I compare them with Hex Fiend, that finds no differences.
It would really help to get more info from FFS about what it thinks is different and where.

FFS content comparison and resource fork data

Does the FFS content compare take into account the "resource fork" data (which may be in separate "dot" file or not)?

I get different results when copy-then-compare is done on a folder depending on whether FFS or Finder does the copy.
When FFS does the copy via Sync, all the normal and dot files ...

feature request: ability to compare Time Machine files

When a Time Machine volume is "mounted", you can see the folders/files via Finder.
However, when I try to compare those files with the local folders I have restored to,
FFS gags because it cant create locks on the Time Mac. vol.
So, the request is to relax any locking requirements, plus any other ...
