One weird thing has happened though: I had 2 disks with exact same copy, so I formatted one to APFS first and then tried to move NTFS files to it. But it gave an error:50. Okay, I think I know why: NTFS format for the disks... I guess I'll have to switch one to APFS and copy the files from the other backup and then make that one exFAT to be able to go back and forth in between Windows and Mac if need be. Though I have not verified whether FFS can handle these two ...
