I agree with dragonbook, I would prefer a graph of the speed in MB/s and items/s instead.
My 2 cent :
You could just display a progress bar, and a button "More" to expand the window and display speed graphs ? Anyway, that's just cosmetics, not a big deal.

That's a common pattern seen with unbuffered storage devices like external USB memory sticks or HDDs. Unbuffered means that Windows does not buffer, since it expects that you could pull the plug at any time. However the storage device internally does buffer. And when it flushes the buffers it ...
