Re: [Feature request] RSYNC
Even if rsync was integrated rsync can only be used if it the external host also had rsync installed.

Re: [Feature request] RSYNC
@huersch
FreeFileSync will never be able to have/ utilize rysnc. Rsync must be installed on both the source and destination in order to function. FreeFileSync is only ever utilized/ running on one end (source or destination) of the sync.

Re: Batch file works well from FFS but not from Task Scheduler
Post what you have verbatim in the task scheduler for "Program/script" and "Add Arguments"
Probably missing " " (quotation marks). A command needs quotes if there is a space in them. C:\Program Files\test.exe won't work while "C:\Program Files\test.exe" will.

Re: FFS doesn't sync to lan at shutdown
Two workarounds things that can think of. First if the sync is very small. Instead of using local group policy try running FreeFileSync through the task scheduler with the trigger of "On disconnect from user session." Windows logs users out prior to shutdown so theoretically it should run and give ...

No, it is not possible to install FreeFileSync on one machine and run it on another. But one has a few options good to run FreeFileSync as a portable program without installing it.

FreeFileSync does work with SFTP on Linux. One just has to mount the SFTP volume vis SSHFS first.

ed22519 keys and SSH agent support
It does not appear that ed22519 keys can be used with FreeFileSync.
Secondly SSH agent support would be nice but realize that not many people would use it and since FreeFileSync isn't Putty based that Pageant couldn't be used on Windows (and don't really know of any other SSH agent for Windows). So ...

Is there any easy way to have a SFTP client built into the Linux version like the Windows version in a future release?

is just an extra step even if it is in a script that one needs to run.

Capitalism is extremely greedy but it is still very cool in my book. Agree subscriptions are a ripoff but reoccurring income for doing no work is the greatest thing in the world.

Re: Is there any simple way to limit versioning?
Know that this is not really what you are looking for. But it would complete your objective. If you put the below in a batch file (prune.bat) and run it through the Windows scheduler every day it will delete all files older then whatever is in the script (right now it is 7) in the folder designated ...

Rsync requires that both the server and client are running rsync. Wish it didn't though. But yes it would be awesome if FreeFileSync could do same as rsync -P (partial file transfers).

Is it possible that the server only accepts ECDSA or Ed25519? Putty derivatives still can only use DSA or RSA while FileZilla can also use ECDSA or Ed22519 keys.

What "portable" version are you having the problems with?
My 8.6 version is totally portable. Sync it over rsync or SFTP to laptop. If move the the folder anywhere it (just confirmed) works too. Do you want a zip minus the last run, etc files?

Been meaning to say this for awhile. Don't fault Zenju at all for the software bundle junk on install.
