Tracker? List of changes in progress?

Zenju - do you publish a list of changes you're implementing? I know sometimes we start working on something for the current version and due to difficulties it gets pushed to a later release. But it would be nice to know what may/should be coming in the near future. Thanks!!

Re: Versioning - Define how many versions to keep

I know this doesn't apply to everyone but common version control systems can do this kind of thing without any changes to FFS. While I value the feature discussed here too, I'm also thinking that there's value in letting specific tools do what they do best. FFS is awesome for saving specific data ...

Re: Includes not using macros / environment vars

OK, please consider this an enhancement request. With %env_vars% we can change one var to completely change how a sync profile works. Right now I have to create lots of profiles that do similar things. My next step for this might be to write code that gets run before opening FFS, dynamically ...

Includes not using macros / environment vars

I've set environment variables with setx, so they're available to processes run after they are set.

I'm using vars like the following:

BackupSet1=a*\*|b*\*|c*\*|d*\*|e*\*|f*\*|g*\*|h*\*
BackupExcludes=desktop.ini|thumbs.db|*.tmp|*.bak|\.svn\|\.git\|\Ignore\

Re: Idea for RTS via SFTP

It took me a while to get back to this and to understand your two points.
Indeed both method are effective and I'm now using RTS without checking the SFTP folder.
Thank you VERY much.

Idea for RTS via SFTP

I've come back to an issue that I had forgotten about, the inability to do RTS with a remote server via SFTP. I understand that we can't monitor through SFTP. But what if we have a common script that gets run on the remote server via cron, one that does something like "ls -la > /path/rts.data". The ...

Re: RealTimeSync SFTP error on monitoring

From this post I'm starting to understand that RTS doesn't work like FFS. It seems it doesn't really care about the sync settings in the .ffs, it's just pulling in all of the the referenced folders and trying to do a simple 100% bi-directional sync. Is that correct?

Forum issue, can't search for "RealTimeSync"

Search in forum returns:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: RealTimeSync.

I think it would be helpful to review/revise terms which should be search-able here. Thanks.

BTW, to get around that, use Google searches like this:

RealTimeSync SFTP error on monitoring

I have a .FFS with a local C: folder as the source/left and a SFTP folder as the destination/right. This is doing a one-way update, nothing coming back from the remote side.
I just want to monitor the local folder and send all updates to the remote system.

I saved this as a _batch and then opened ...

Compare is reading unnecessary folders/files

I'm setting up a sync from my local Windows8 to a remote SFTP. This is for a one-way update to the remote system. So I don't care what's on the remote system, I just want local updates to overwrite the remote counterpart.

There are three sub-folders in the local folder being synced. There are those ...

SFTP folder picker: Issue browsing hidden folders

With the latest version I'm connecting into a Filezilla server on Ubuntu at DreamHost. They're using protocol v4.0. I was trying to setup a sync with SFTP but when browsing I couldn't access my shared space under /home/myuser. It looks like FFS is trying to browse first to /home, and then from there ...

Configurable Retry for locked files?

When doing a sync the UI will occasionally pause to warn that my Avast AV has a file locked. This is just random luck that a file happens to be getting checked for malware at the same time FFS is trying to copy it. By the time I click Retry Avast has long-since moved on to something else.

It would ...

Re: Skip folder pair

I just went through some pain with this, added about 10 base folders to a single config and then realized it was going to take 5 days to do an initial sync. My solution was to open Windows Explorer, ctrl-c to copy the config, then multiple control-v to paste copies. Change the names to something ...

Re: Environment (Macro) Variables

I was looking for something like this today. I didn't see the option in macros and didn't think to look in the external apps page.

My goal would be to support this pattern in the Left\Right UI:
From C:\users\me\foo\bar To: E:\backups\me\foo\bar
%source%=C:\users\me
%folders%=\foo\bar
%target%=E ...

Folder Doesn't Exist warning always displays

I'm doing an initial sync between my PC and a new external hard drive which is mostly empty. So I queue up paths and set new folders to receive the data. Every time I start a sync I get warned that the target folders don't exist. I check Ignore and then click the Ignore button but this state isn't ...

Syntax to Exclude folder not working in 8.3

According to the help page, we exclude a folder with "\name\". But that's not working.
This works: "*\name\*"
