Re: A puzzle with the "exclude" filter

Thanks for you reply :-)
Actually, I'm using two way sync on this job.
But, that doesn't seem to mater, for when I tried your suggestion (once I understood what you were actually trying to get me to do....) it worked, so thanks again. :-)

I'm still curious as to why this following filter phrase ...

Re: A puzzle with the "exclude" filter

One last thought for this morning...
I've been reading the online manual for FFS, where it says this:

Example: Filter items of folder pair C:\Source, D:\Target
Filter description --------------------------------- Filter phrase
All *.tmp files located in SubFolder ----------- \SubFolder\*.tmp

Once ...

Re: A puzzle with the "exclude" filter

Hi Gianni,
Thanks for your suggestion. :-)
I'm still rather confused (even though I've been a thankful FreeFileSync user for a few years...)
By the way, in that particular sync configuration (or sync job, I guess), I have 24 folder pairs (3 users on 1 pc have their files synced with another pc on ...

Re: A puzzle with the "exclude" filter

Thanks :-) But I'm still confused...
So if I want to avoid copying all the files with the extension .mp3 in this source folder:
\\SCH-DESKTOP1\Users\John\AppData\Local\GeometryDash\
what exclude filter phrase should I actually use?
(I'll probably kick myself when I find out how easy it is... :-) )

A puzzle with the "exclude" filter

Greetings all,
I wish to exclude all mp3 files from a certain folder location (but not any other folder location), and the exclude string I've tried is as follows:
\Users\John\AppData\Local\GeometryDash\*.mp3
but the mp3 files don't disappear from the folder pair display, and the mp3 files still get ...

Re: FreeFileSync 9.5 starts after 20s delay

Thanks Zenju, I downloaded the latest file, and that's cured the slow start up problem. Instead of taking about 20s, it takes about 2 seconds, if that. :-)

Will it be safe to keep using this beta until the next official version is released ?

Re: FreeFileSync 9.5 starts after 20s delay

Hi Zenju,
Thanks for having a look at the Process Monitor logs; I've never quite got the hang of interpreting them myself, so I'll have a look through them and see if I can find what you found. (Then maybe I'll know what to look for next time something like this happens. :-) )

Sorry, but I was ...

Re: FreeFileSync 9.5 starts after 20s delay

Hi Zenju,
Ok, I've taken a log for FFS 8.1 starting up, then re-installed FFS 9.5 and done the same for it, and I'll email those logfiles to you some time today.
(Once again, FFS 9.5 took about 20s to start up, and FFS 8.1 took a couple of seconds.)
Thanks in advance for examining these files; I ...

Re: FreeFileSync 9.5 starts after 20s delay

Hi Zenju, thanks for your prompt reply. :-)
I'm puzzled too; I'm not using the portable version, and I can't imagine why a later version (9.5) should be slower than an earlier version, either.
I'm broadly familiar with Process Monitor (which, according to Mark Russinovich, can even help ones ...

FreeFileSync 9.5 starts after 20s delay

Hi,
I've been trying FreeFileSync version 9.5 on a Windows 7 32 bit HP PC (with 2 disks in a RAID configuration which simply mirror each other) which had previously run FFS version 8.1 without problems (I find it an extremely handy program BTW, bravo! A keen user since version 6. :-) )
FFS 9.5 ...
