Re: Issues with synchronizing folders with leading spaces in folder name
Zenju, I have this same issue. I am on a Mac and to get folders to list at the top of a directory on OSX (like is done in Windows), I start all folder names with a space so they sort to the top. Version 10.25 now complains that my directory name "starts or ends with a space", and throws an error ...

Re: ver 10.25 cannot handle certain characters - is there a way to d/l previous ver?
Note: I suspect others may also be using any character less than "A" (x0045) at the beginning a a directory name to force sorting directories to the top on non MS-Windows file systems. Other characters can also work (Hyphen, "!", "=", "0", etc.), but are not as visually pleasing as a simple space ...

Zenju, I have this same issue in a different form. Version 10.25 now complains that my directory name "starts or ends with a space", and ...

Re: Name / Configuration Box clears current session
Ah ha! I see that in playing with the interface that one can close the Configuration box altogether to prevent this issue. Are there any issues with clicking in the Overview box to bring the FFS window back into focus? i.e., Clicking on the left side of the screen / Overview box and potentially ...

Re: Name / Configuration Box clears current session
Thanks for the quick response Zenju. I wonder though, should clicking on white space (not clicking any buttons, icons, filenames, etc.) create a destructive action like clearing the current scan data? When the Finder/browser is on top of the FFS screen (FFS in background) one needs to click on the ...

Re: Name / Configuration Box clears current session
Bump. Is this a bug?
Is clicking in the whitespace of the Name box (upper left corner of the screen) supposed to clear/delete your current scan? This seems like a bug. Clicking on a specific save filter filename should change the scan parameters, but not clear your scan until you initiate another ...

Re: Log File Location on the Mac Version?
Whoops! Never mind, this is user error. I ran the scan on a laptop and was searching for the log file on a desktop. (I am running backups of a NAS to a USB connected to NAS drive, so am bouncing between computers.
My question about a printed manual stands though. That would be very helpful to read ...

Re: Log File Location on the Mac Version?
Thanks for the response, and that makes sense.
I looked in the user library (~/Library) and do see a "lastrun.ffs.gui" file which contains xml statements, but did not see any log files from previous runs. I assume these XML statements are the current settings for the current session. Does that ...

Name / Configuration Box clears current session
Not sure if this is a user error or bug, but when I want to browse a particular file that FFS 10.1 indicates will be acted on, I right click and open the file in Finder (OS X 10.10.5) and this works fine. However, when I click on the FFS window to bring it into focus (appears that I am clicking on ...

Log File Location on the Mac Version?
Before posting, I scanned through the manual and forums, but did not see an answer to this anywhere on the site. I did find info for the Windows version, and what info I found for the Mac version did not seem to be accurate (a posting indicated the log file might be stored in the application support ...

Re: Failed to activate FreeFile Donation Edition on Mac
This morning I deleted the version of the FFS donation version I downloaded and installed yesterday, and re-downloaded the software again. This time when I ran the installer I was not presented with 3 different install options. Instead, the installer defaulted to a "basic install on the "standard ...

Re: Failed to activate FreeFile Donation Edition on Mac
One other point. On OSX you are offered three ways to install the app:
1. On a specific disk
2. For all users
3. For a specific user
I first installed the app using option 1 above (specific disk), but after installing it, I could not find the app in the APP directory. (Could have just been an ...

Re: Failed to activate FreeFile Donation Edition on Mac
Wow - that was fast!
The install went smoothly, with no issues. It installed in the Apps folder. I did rename the app from FreeFileSync.app to FreeFileSync10_1.app. Note that the .key file is located in the download folder. Not sure where the .key file should be located for the app to read it.

Re: Failed to activate FreeFile Donation Edition on Mac
Zenju, not sure if this is the same issue, but I downloaded the Donation edition for Mac and installed it on OSX 10.10.5, and the donation version is not being recognized. The "About" shows this is the non-donation version. I did receive a key file along with the donation version of FFS, but don't ...
