Follow up - booted both my computers and the NAS. Problem solved.

So how do I remove the "stale" lock files on either/both ends?

I have the opposite problem!! My sync runs overnite in batch mode but the summary disappears before I get to it in the morning or never appeared. I did not check run-minimized nor Auto-close and did check ignore errors. It worked fine - exactly the way I wanted until I got a new computer, updated ...
