is there an advantage of using sync.ffs_db files then?

hello,
I don't know if it's been discussed before and it's difficult to search do to the nature of terms,

I've just read about google drive requiring security assessment after February 15, 2024 and
I wonder about ffs fate

Unfortunately, access to Google Drive will no longer be possible with the cloud plugin after February 15, 2024 because Google suddenly changed the rules after almost 10 years ...

after updating to v13, all my *.ffs files were edited and
the following was added to them:

<Changes>
<Left Create="right" Update="right" Delete="right"/>
<Right Create="left" Update="left" Delete="left"/>
</Changes>

I guess this was in order to preserve backwards compatibility

I'm using not the photos mode you mentioned, but the other one, deletions synced etc, do I have to do anything?

it's two different pairs,
the first is set to include * on the parent folder and exlude these folders,
and the other to include only the specific english language files ;)

I've found out some cases recently that two-way isn't working as it's supposed to,
these involve google drive files,
I mean I add a couple files on gdrive on folders that I've set two-way sync,
I run the sync and ffs suggests that I delete them from gdrive (because they don't exist on the ...

9/11 are images and most of them (if not all) small files,
maybe @zenju would want to take a look at this,

also note that I'm using "mirror" to sync/upload these files,
but of course ffs couldn't delete (the one of?) them because it wouldn't know which one to keep,
but I'm working with gd many ...

here are all the duplicates FFS created after uploading around 235gb of data

yes, my problem isn't that they're different. my problem is that they are the same!
and so I've got to go find them and delete them manually,
anyway, it doesn't make sense, who created those and why?

of course it should be a ffs bug,
who else created those duplicate files then?

I think FFS did because these files didn't exist before,
I used ffs for the initial upload,
and this is for both cases

so I started using ffs to sync my files to google drive and I got this message a couple of times already after using total commander sync, and indeed it was right I had to go and delete the dupes on my own

Back to 11.23 works well.

what worked for me (after first failure copying only executables) was copying all 3 dat files: registered.dat, install.dat and animal.dat from the new location to the installation folder..
what's ironic is that you can't use ffs to sync ffs portable to another computer, well, makes no sense to me ...

no, I copied all the files included, but new versions need new dat files, that's the problem, that we can't use older ones again, they are useless after update and we need to activate again, which, well.. sucks..

feels like this guy needs to track when we update,
how many devices we use FFS and so on..
couldn't it be a one-tine-only activation?

yes, I have it installed there and I sync this folder (with FFS) on 3 different computers (sometimes even 4),
but when copying over those executable files, I get the above message, can I somehow get rid of that and have my installation activated for lifetime?

this forum is such a disappointment to me,

I faced this issue today too, any suggestions?
I also got a warning from my antivirus (Kaspersky) about ffs behavior, very strange,
I don't know if the two issues are connected

I told you 31gb remaining isn't true,
I guess one of the interface quirks that need to be fixed,
it says so because my 2nd synced device isn't connected at the time of syncing
(and I do this a lot, some of my scripts contain 2 devices and
I connect the 2nd one rarely)

I rebooted and I think it the problem is gone, finally!
amazing what a reboot can do/fix!

if the target file is newer than the source,
besides the "do nothing" option,
maybe there shoud be a "ask user" option?

today I tried to run freefilesync (portable) at work for the first time,

without internet and a window popped up asking me to activate,
