Re: Suggestion / Bug: Filter . extension by default on Windows
earlier versions of Windows like WinXP were capable of handling these files, new Windows stumbles on them. Windows expects either a .extension or a blank filename, but never a file ending in a period. Uhm... I just tried on an old virtual WinXP and I simply wasn't able to create a file ending with ...

...it's a FAT "feature"... https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=expert-settings FileTimeTolerance: By default file modification times are allowed to have a 2 second difference while still being considered equal. This is required by FAT/FAT32 file systems which store file times only wi...

I cannot test that but I'm pretty sure you can still see shared resources on Windows from non-Windows because the SMB protocol and the "server service" is still there... You will have to create by yourself the needed account/pwd on both the "server" and the "client", of...

Bad, if you have a Mac & Linux & Mobile, with Windows, no sharing or seeing each other. I think that you didn't understood correctly the MS statement: only the "homegroup" has been removed, NOT the sharing as done for ages before the "homegroup"!!! "Homegroup" ...

Off course I did it!!!
The auto-close option is simply closing immediately the window.
In this topic we were talking about the "auto-close" and not the action like shutdown/sleep.

Re: Last execution time stamp
May I suggest to put the field added with v9.7 somewhere else?
Right now it's on the same row as the profile name so it's "wasting" space for the profile name itself!
It would be nice to have it under the profile name, eventually with a collapsible entry!

This is great, but may I suggest the option to add a "time-out"? It can be helpful to see the results at least for a few seconds...!!!

I'm voting for this too! previously it was possible to just "close" the sync window!

Re: Check for new versions is turning itself on and detect moved files problems
Have a look here viewtopic.php?t=4542&p=15780#p15759 it could be related to the file system you use...2- The detect moved files functionality seems limited. It works when I have edited photo's and the editor puts the original in a subfolder.Vansloneker, 22 Oct 2017, 08:50

What File System are you using? FFS is able to track the move only on some File System, read the last note here https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings

Re: Windows: Locked files (outlook) not copied
When outlook doesn't run the copy works. But this setup will get automated so it will need to deal with this in the end. If the files in use (you didn't specified extensions) are .ost then these are by default excluded from shadowcopies or any backup/copy made via VSS. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en...

Bug report: FreeFileSync does not work with mapped network drive letters. ...or: have you run FFS elevated? By default the elevated process doesn't share mapped drive from the non-elevated account. There is a registry entry to change to enable the mapped drive sharing (I did it on my Win10 pc) http...

That's not exactly the same error reported (reading for the OP, writing in the FAQ). The solution should actually be correct, but one must remember to run FFS elevated or change the property to always run it elevated with the annoyance to always accept the UAC prompt... My solution is a bit more com...

Are you running on a UAC aware os? Is UAC active? If so you better add yourself explicitely into ACLs. Let me try to explain better: In my own pc I have always disabled UAC because they are my pc and I known what I'm doing. I'm also member of local group Administrators.
