Re: Preserving dates and times of directories

+1 vote to preserve dates and times of directories (very important).
+1 vote preserving ACLs.
Consider making a donation to the project as a bit of a "bounty". I did so and indicated the ACL issue was important to me and this does seem to have gotten some notice by the developer. Perhaps some ...

Re: Preserving dates and times of directories

I found this "feautre" too. Not only times, but directory attributes & permissions / ACLs are not synced if they have changed. This stops me using FFS for my usage :(

I really like to see robocopy like feature to have option to sync directory times and another to sync all directory permissions ...

Re: Suggestion: All sync.ffs_db files can be put in 1 db file in the FreeFileSync folder

Aaron, it is obviously not my call but I think there are enough specifics about your situation that you might need (yet) another thread.

I'm thinking the combination of factors in your case is getting unusual.

As a casual reader I think you want mirror as the main FFS mode but also need moved ...

Re: Suggestion: All sync.ffs_db files can be put in 1 db file in the FreeFileSync folder

> in some scenarios FFS may resolve the DFS root to a different namespace server

Are you sure that "two way" is the variant you need? If the data is available multiple times, then it's logically correct that FFS creates multiple database files, one for each physical incarnation of a data set. But ...

Re: Suggestion: All sync.ffs_db files can be put in 1 db file in the FreeFileSync folder

There are 4 issues in our scenario:

1. The current location of the sync.ffs_db files is a user readable location under a set of managed folders. While they can't modify/delete the files/folders here the presence of unexpected file data may certainly result in unwanted calls and inquiries to our ...

Re: Suggestion: All sync.ffs_db files can be put in 1 db file in the FreeFileSync folder

I would like to resurrect and +1 the first item. Can an expert option be included to have all sync.ffs_db files placed into FFS' ProgramData directory rather than at the root of the location being synced? As a Sys Admin the file rename/move detection is a critical piece of why we are hoping to use ...

Maybe have an option that hides advanced settings by default.

Wait, the pml file you sent is supposed to be from the test version above? In this case it wasn't running the new copy routine, but this version here should:

+1. I agree that some additional control over the logging format and detail would be extremely useful.

Re: [Feature Request] Security Descriptor Update

I don't think FFS will copy permissions only

I've seen your bonus pt and think you need another prog.

There are other ways of saying "these files are the same, give them the same attributes".

FFS isn't it

P.S. How do you know the files are exact except for the permissions? Just curious.
Yes, I ...

Re: [Feature Request] Implement Security Bypass Privileges (Backup/Restore)

I have tested this both interactively and in batch mode. In batch mode the scheduled task is marked to run with the highest ...

[Feature Request] Security Descriptor Update

In my testing FreeFileSync appears to only perform a sync action if the attributes, size, or data modified do not match. How about including changes made to security descriptors? We have a need to copy modified ACLs (but not the data!) if only the ACL changes.

For bonus points it would also be nice ...

[Feature Request] Run Hours

Please consider adding a feature to pause or throttle file transfer according to a schedule. A simple implementation would be similar to RoboCopy’s /RH switch – allowing for a range of hours during a 24-hour period to be allocated for file transfers while outside of those hours the sync job is ...
