Re: Flat versus tree file structure

After working on other syncs with 10.24 I recognized a thing. For log files, of installers or the FFS log, its crucial that it contains repetitive lines and characters. Thus makes it possible to read the line even during scrolling or sometimes even jumping (PgDw/Up). Also to spot errors while scroll...

Re: FileSync copying over all files AGAIN

Okay. You could maybe choose compare file size instead of date. By date is not always the best. Example, my mp3/Video-Tagging software is set to not changeing the dates after editing. Nor does the size change beacuse of the fix header-size, thus for my music-archive I have to use by bit. It might he...

Re: Install Advertisement instead of Web Block

I guess the payout of the advertisment is linked to the number of downloads of the installer.
So there have to be two installers discriminating that. What for sure is creating confusion which to use bla bla.
Or FFS is calling home during installation.

Re: FileSync copying over all files AGAIN

What is the date shown in FFS? Anything else doesn´t matter for FFS! 1 or 2 hour differenes can be ignored through a compare setting. A screenshot of the compare could help. All in all, if you came from an clean/empty cloud you should have uploaded everything through FFS and not manually to create a...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure

What I say is that there is no need to use green and purple to specify the right/left direction. What synchronization does is create, delete or update files so just highlighting right and left modified files is enough. And doing this by using the green and red, which are associated with OK/KO warni...

Have you previously already installed the non donation edition? Then of course it will replace the free version. Also files in the temporary extraction folder. A downloaded file never starts installing himself, especially on Linux. To install software outside of the 'Repos' you have to use the termi...

Long ago we had a machine with not enough drive space. Probably months later we found out some folders are empty. Arguing the lack of space caused it. So the moment the space lacking machine synced back deleted it. (Although the folder names itself existed) Have you checked the recycler? Is all move...

The software wouldn´t stop running, you were just surprised the folder looks 'normal'. My single Apps from PortableApps.com, I never used the package, even don´t have a desktop.ini in their folders. Desktop.inis are machine and OS related. To have it copied in backups is fine, syncs between devices ...

Re: Change name of a folder in compare result

The *.ffs_db database is not available. That after syncing both sides have the same name is correct. Change name of a folder in compare result

I had a situation where it would have come in handy if it was possible to change the folder name of one side (pressing F2), because it was changed but not recognized by this compare run. Thus FFS wanted to create the old foldername on one side and the new name on the other side. Creating duplicates ...

word-wrap of logs changed some day?

Was the word-wrap of the log files changed between 9.1 and 10.24? The newest 'Notepad' is now capable of the unix format. Any reasons to keep it in the default exclusion list? For backup purposes it´s fine to include the 'desktop.ini'. But synching to USB or between different machines/OSs it can cause problems. It´s up to you which preset is better. Uprgrading from an older version it´s in the default exclude list. In...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure

Musenka Is this folder jumping into second row after scrolling down? This is what I see here. Re: Flat versus tree file structure

Musenka
For the example you show I suggest.
- left side item view, right side relative path
- change column order to everything before the path column
e.g size | date | relative path

Does this save you space viewing through one line of output?

With other syncs/systems nearly no file is in his row. Folder the other way round is truncated if to long file is in first row. After reading this thread (From the naming not related to the problem thus it is the reason) moving the column size does change the alignment. How it looks is obscure and n...

Musenka For the version before 10.25, did you see you can change the size of the columns? Regardless of the text garbage from path every truncation of file name can be eliminated with that. What Zenju now did is, just replacing the pathname with white space without reducing the horizontal space need...

In case of an error or power failure while synchronising, deleting prior copying is finished would create more anger. Make enough space free before you synchronise. Re: Version 10.25 - New file tree layout for main grid is mostly whitespace

Oh, another feature that´s lost with 10.25. Bad really bad how this update went. This major change should have needed more reality testing. Zenju, I think you should seriously consider to recall this update or release a 10.25b without tree layout, before losing more reputation and support. Until the...
