4th possibility: Long file paths. I renamed all the paths that have been too long. I used the software "Path Length Checker". Now I don't have paths longer than 240 characters. Also I turned on the Long Path Support in Windows 10.

Can you share the Process Monitor log?I have run FreeFileSync and Process Monitor. On the remote PC I see a truncated 260 character length path.
There is no \\?\ at the beginning of the path. This is with 11.3

... 32K, that's great", but that's not the whole story. Every part of the path+name that makes up that 32K is limited to (a paltry) 255 chars.
Even ... this case, on a Win10 system with lfn enabled (long path), that too would work.

It is unique to long path lengths. This does not affect paths less than ~256. One with a length of 235 charcters is ok, one with 260 is not.

(In the year 2020, & we're still running into Path length issues. In addition to path, in total, there is also a "path segment" limit of 255 characters. So you can't have a file name [itself, or any part of a path segment] that exceeds 255 characters. And then there are funky name+path length issues too ...

At first I thought it was long path/filename related (was often stuck on a file path with length 174 characters/bytes), however one time it was on a much shorter length but the file count was 120,554
Any other information I can provide on this?

FreeFileSync does not have any limit on file path length.

That makes sense kind of, but if the path is too long, the file names usually get truncated.
The path actually was not that long, about 12 characters ... root folder that is directly on the root of the drive. It's not a Char length issue.
Like I said, everything seemed to copy over ok. It was just odd ...
