Re: Dates not updating / Ignore dates
Thank you Zenju, you're awesome It almost, almost solved it for me but unfortunately the conflict issue did become a showstopper, so I'm looking forward for the next version. Any chances of it hitting soon? By the way, I do think the dates issue is more of a NetDrive bug. One more question: is ther...

Re: Dates not updating / Ignore dates
I've just tested and can confirm the behavior: Usually if files are copied the target file receives the source file's last modification timestamp. In this case, when copying files to an FTP drive, this is not done, but the modification time is set to current time. The same happens if files are simpl...

Re: Run as Service?
Why would you need RealtimeSync as a service? Do you want it to run on Windows startup? That's already possible, simply start RealtimeSync via commandline:
C:\program files\FreeFileSync\RealtimeSync.exe <config name>

Re: Conflicts
Context menu entries for adapting direction are already included in the current version v2.2. Additionally in the next version there will be an option to select a default direction for conflicts automatically, see: viewtopic.php?t=2024

Re: File sync using date/size
I have an issue with the date/size option for file syncing using a batch job. The problem arises when my scheduled batch job executes and in Folder 1 data is being written but isn't locked from reading during that operation. FreeFileSync does the comparison and finds that the new file exists in Fol...

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of per-folderpair-configuration. I'll try to include this feature for v2.3!

Re: DateTime stamp option (as Prefix OR Suffix)
Hi Zenju, I agree with all you said, above. Instead of having to load 2 different configurations as you suggest, would it be possible (in the next version 2.3?) , to allow FFS to handle this scenario: * UPDATE mode * ... From Left... To Right... [ C:\ TestC \ file.txt ] ---> [ F:\ TestF\ DateTime_f...

Re: File sync using date/size
Currently conflicts cannot be resolved automatically, because it's not clear which direction the files should copy (two-way-sync). In your case, it seems you do a one-way sync, so it's reasonable to copy conflics always the same way. Thinking about it I think I should make a default direction config...

Zenju: your solution is brilliant! Almost there, now... Pls, follow my example, below. OBJECTIVE: ---------------- Before overwriting with the latest updated version of the file in C: drive (left-side), we wish to make a DateTime-stamped backup of any previously backed-up files in the F:\ & H:\...

Re: DateTime stamp option (as Prefix OR Suffix)
Hi Zenju! The latter, ie: ---> appending the prefix to files while synchronizing... that would be great for those of us, needing to keep track of file updates, several times a day. In case of emergency - we would know immediately (by the DateTime stamp prefix), what file version to restore....by th...

Are you talking about a display only feature or about appending the prefix to files while synchronizing?

Hej, I just discovered this project and tested it on windows. It replaced my old sync software (Synkron) because it's easier and faster... But I also want to use it on my Ubuntu machine. Re: error reading file: ... globalsettings.xml
I have also encountered this error. It appears when you run several batch jobs after each other. When the first job finishes, the program writes the globalsettings.xml and when the next one is starting the file is locked due to writing. You can avoid the problem by waiting until the first job is co...

Possible solution to BACKUP problem (Left to Right), in UPDATE mode: I believe you need a 3rd (new) category in the COMPARE BY.... : ---> File DATE AND TIME <--- Without this new, 3rd option in COMPARE BY..., it will be impossible to make a Backup copy (Left to Right), if the left files are updated...

Re: Backup Files in 1 Folder to 3 Folders at once
Hi, you have enabled the setting "ignore DST +-1h". And this is exactly what is done, time deviations of EXACTLY +-1h are ignored and the corresponding files are treated as equal. In your case time deviation is LESS than 1 hour => it's just like the warning says: "It's not safe to dec...

Re: Backup Files in 1 Folder to 3 Folders at once
Hi, I'm not sure if I understood correctly: You have one source folder in C: and three target folders in D:, E: and F:. So I'd suggest you simply use three folder pairs C:\TESTC -> D:\TESTD C:\TESTC -> E:\TESTE C:\TESTC -> F:\TESTF Then start the one way sync to the left. Is this what you have been ...

Re: file name changes
One feature that as far as I know no sync software has is to sync file names, when the files are otherwise identical. This happens when you just change file names, usually music or photo files, and you don't want to copy them as it would be a waste of time. As long as ffs already have a way to chec...

Re: file name changes
FreeFileSync checks if two files are equal by comparing their content directly. This is the most efficient way to compare files. When you want to find files that are equal from a group of files, you would need to make checksums for each file. That's no problem so far. But I don't really see this fit...
