Re: Mirror 2 Drives on PC to 1 External Hard Drive

No problem. Just create (at least) two left-right folder pairs . Assuming your external backup-drive is called F: , make your first left-right folder pair e.g. D:\[path-to-source-folder-on-D] => F:\Backup D 1 and the second pair E:\[path-to-source- folder-on-E] => F:\Backup E 1 So, also if you need ...

Re: Unable to ignore the Recycle bin

Likely, you have set your "Delete Files" method to "Recycle bin" . Any files that get deleted or updated (=overwritten) will then be moved to the Recycle bin. This has nothing to do with your Exclude Filter. But given the warning you get about the Recycle bin not being available ...

As described by xCSxXenon, after running a Compare , you can right click a file or folder and then select to temporarily, but also to permanently Exclude that file or folder form your sync. For the permanent Exclusions to remain active across different FFS sessions, you can best save the sync config...

Re: VeraCrypt Containers

To prevent confusions:
It is not RealTimeSync (RTS) you are talking about, it is FreeFileSync (FFS).

In order to run FFS minimized, you need to save your sync configuration as a *.ffs_batch file, and follow the instructions as described here.

From your description, it seems you are looking for the FreeFileSync (FFS) GUI window.
So, simply open FFS instaed of RTS.

Zenju explained the use of the Recyclebin...ffs_tmp folder here.
Most likely cause for your problem seems to be multiple instances of FFS running at the same time or early termination of an FFS instance.

Re: Synchronising is writing files to my hard drive

If you sync between two external drives, the only files that get written locally by FFS are:
* the global-settings file (GlobalSettings.xml)
* the log-file (normally in the users AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync\Logs folder)
* and, if configured like that, files from Versioning

Your post is a bit confusing, because you write RealTimeSync (RTS), where the pictures and problems you describe concern FreeFileSync (FFS). A FFS TwoWay sync does exactly what you describe under 1), 2) and 3), provided that under 2), you read the "newest" file as: the file that changed th...

Not fully clear what is happening here, but it seems your sync tries to update your All About The Paper (ADN Edit).wav file that was already present in your right-side location by the version of that file in your left-side location, that you use the "Recycle bin" as your Delete Files metho...

Your Exclude Filter entries C:\$RECYCLE.BIN\*\ - D:\$RECYCLE.BIN\*\ - E:\$RECYCLE. BIN\*\ are wrong, because they specify an absolute path, while the Include and Exclude Filter need to contain a path relative to the left and right base location (although Zenju added some smart adaptations to partial...
