Zenju, would you please update the source tarball with this Animal.dat? It's not a deal breaker for compiling the application, but it would help, obviously.

Thanks for the patch for g++ < 12. Fedora 35 still has g++ 11 so I needed that. But Devuan Ceres has g++12 so I can skip the patch there.

Zenju, I'm so sorry to bother you about this again. In version 11.21, I am working with what you have done with the icon_loader.cpp logic, and I get this error: In file included from /usr/include/glib-2.0/gobject/gbinding.h:29, from /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib-object.h:22, from /usr/include/glib-2.0/...

General translation issues: language names
I speak only English, so these compilation issues for version 11.21 do not affect me, but it appears that wx3.0-headers 3.0.5.1+dfsg-4 has a number of different language names than what localization.cpp and application.cpp are looking for, particularly: • wxLANGUAGE_CHINESE_CHINA is probably _SIMPLI...

Hi Zenju, I would like to know if it would be a problem if for my builds, that I revert to the old logic used in FreeFileSync/Source/base/file_hiearchy.h , because of this compile error: In file included from /usr/include/c++/11/bits/stl_algobase.h:64, from /usr/include/c++/11/bits/char_traits.h:39,...

Re: Need help in installing it on Red Hat linux
If you wanted the guide for installing on CentOS 7, check out forum post 6566 If you mean for CentOS 8, the instructions would be almost the same. I had to check my copr , which shows that the last successful build on EL8 was FreeFileSync 10.24. To install on CentOS 8, you would need to install one ...

Re: Need help in installing it on Red Hat linux
Alas, I have been unable to adapt the source code of FreeFileSync > 10.24 for even CentOS 7. I suspect RHEL 6 is just too old. If the precompiled binary for you is compiled on too high a glibc for RHEL6 (off the top of my head, glibc 2.13 for RHEL6?), there's going to be nothing you can do even if w...

It does crash, about 1 in 6 times. Whenever it does crash, I try again and then it usually works. if it ever crashes twice in a row, I'll run it from a terminal and somehow that protects it and then it will never crash. The beauty of FLOSS is that if this developer moves on from this project, similarly-skilled individuals can pick up the project! It sounds like you don't have a full perspective of FLOSS yet, regardless of Zenju's specific strategy for old versions.

You've started with a great step, of course. I'm guessing Arch Linux/Endeavorous doesn't use SELinux or AppArmor? Have you checked that the application is running as the correct user? (No reason to think it isn't, but I don't have a lot.) Are you comfortable running the application with strace, and ...

Re: Issue Scheduling FreeFile Sync on Pop!_OS
I wouldn't bother doing anything with the canberra warning. GTK applications throw all kinds of warnings because GTK has so many hooks into things. It's not in scope for an application like FreeFileSync to deal with any superfluous warnings from GTK. Additionally, please do not try to manipulate DIS...

Re: Issue Scheduling FreeFile Sync on Pop!_OS
That message is not important. GTK always throws tons of warnings. In this case, canberra is a library related to playing sounds, but I'm pretty sure FreeFileSync doesn't use that one to play the notification sounds.

That is a great question. It is rather typical for cron entries to just redirect everything to /dev/null.
You would just change the 1>>~/ffs.log 2>&1 bit to 1>/dev/null 2>&1.

You need to remove the quote marks from the second token from the crontab entry. The way the command is interpreted by cron, is that it is looking for a file that is named "/usr/bin/flatpak run org.freefilesync.FreeFileSync" (excluding the quotes). That is, a file with those spaces in the ...

Clearly you have gtk3. There isn't a whole lot of info in your error message. Can you run: ldd /opt/freefilesync/Bin/FreeFileSync_x86_64 This will show us the linked libraries. There should be the generic libs like libc6.so and libgtk3. Make sure all entries in that list exist. Perhaps you're missin...

It actually shows you the most recently used .ffs* files. You can select that "Open" button in your screenshot and navigate to a different path and choose any valid .ffs* file.
