Re: Stuck on volume Shadow Copy
Are you suspecting an issue with Windows 11 because it worked perfectly fine on Windows 10 and stopped working as soon as you used Windows 11? Or are you just throwing noodles at the wall?

Re: Am I stuck forever with FreeFileSync 13.3?
I still expect unintended consequences and apparently not the only one. My way of doing things isn't "flawed", it's locally adapted to my situation I constantly use leading spaces in file and folder names to prioritize them at the top of lists on macOS You are expecting unintended consequ...

Re: Am I stuck forever with FreeFileSync 13.3?
Users don't make mistakes LOL I see you're one of "those users" Using spaces as an organizational method is simply ill-advised and you shouldn't do it. You are literally locking yourself into a flawed way of doing things that is going to cause you problems later. But as you say, there's n...

Re: how do run FileSync during windows shutdown ?
That was my first link but they were unable to figure it out...Did you try using the Windows Task Scheduler?
There you can choose to run tasks based on a given time, but also upon given events, such as startup, login, logoff and shutdown. Plerry, 20 Mar 2024, 13:17

Re: realtime sync and google drive
https://freefilesync.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9873 RTS doesn't work when monitoring a Google Drive location. You can have RTS monitor just the local directory, it is up to you to determine if that is sufficient for your use. RTS works fine with an infinite number of files, but the more important th...

Re: how do run FileSync during windows shutdown ?
You might find it easier to simply write a batch script that runs the FFS sync and then runs the shutdown command after that finishes. Name it whatever, but it would contain two lines: "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\FreeFileSync.exe" "C:\Path\To\Your\FFS\Config\File" and shutdown...

Re: Directory/folder availability check
can't think of any common reason that some data may not show up when it wasn't deleted somehow Ransomware. (Beside physically changing file contents), often will rename the file *.encrypt. Sure but that is not "data not showing up". That is a different, but valid, concern than what was pr...

Re: Synchronize files based on their creation date.
There isn't currently a way to define a sync order, other than manual babysitting. For example, only syncing a subset of directories first, then another set, then another, and on and on. Or, running a comparison to gather all changes and selecting what you want in the results to sync 'selectively'. ...

If you actually read through them, you'll see why it is the way it is and the proposed workaround from the developer so that you can solve your very niche issue. Other people have asked for this in the past multiple times, but they were always dismissed. Asking for it over and over hasn't worked so ...

Re: Compare by just file time
I do not have this issue with my OneDrive and Office files. I just confirmed with a docx that I saved locally, copied to OneDrive, and then compared the size and SHA-256 results. Files were identical With that said, it wouldn't make sense to add a feature to a sync program that makes the program not...

Re: Directory/folder availability check
Good concern to have, as FFS will absolutely copy corrupted data just as well as good data. If a monitored location can't be seen at all, RTS will never start a sync anyway, so no worry there. There is no concrete answer to your question, because as always, "it depends". Why would "no...

Re: Showing non-existed and deleted files
If they only show up when syncing with the SFTP location, they must already exist in the other locations you are syncing to. You can use CMD to find and delete these files. There is no risk, if they are in use, you won't be able to delete them. It's not a FFS bug, 100% guaranteed

Re: Showing non-existed and deleted files
Files with a Tilda at the beginning are temp files that didn't get deleted gracefully by the program using them. Your File Explorer isn't set to show these hidden files, but you can change it so you can see them. Just delete them though.
