Hey there i'm using the application in order to sync my files from one pc to another in an update sync setting in ffs.

I'm very concerned that my pc can get stolen or hacked(laptop) or encrypted and then it will spread from all of them / or that the laptop can delete all the files via changing sync setting from update to mirror.

I would like to hear about What safety measures can I take in order to prevent this?

I thought about cold backup but the con of it will be that it would need manual backup updates , which is meh but if i must i will...

Thanks alot in advance!

An air-gapped / cold backup is the only solution to those types of concerns. 321 backup strategy gets you 90% there, but doesn't help for malice or encryption if syncs are automated or the attacker can perform them manually. I keep a drive on hand for a 100% backup of my NAS data. It is encrypted with BitLocker, without the key stored online, and remains in a dock that I only power on for the duration of a backup. I do this once a week or so, it's very quick to turn it on, unlock it, sync data and then turn it back off.
If everything goes upside down and I lose my PC and server, I at least have the data and an image on that disk that I can unlock to recover. The nice thing about FFS is that I have configured it to sync the absolute most important data/files/documents across so many different devices. The only way every single copy of my important data is lost probably means I'm dead anyway LOL

Sounds like plan bro haha , hopefully you're not dead lol, thing is i want to keep that air gapped disk relatively updated i might just do it daily which is tiring but better than losing all my stuff due to some shit 🫠 , thanks legend🥸🥸

I just noticed I forgot another thing I do. I have an external NVME inside of a fire/water proof enclosure that I leave connected 24/7. It is encrypted with BitLocker and I only unlock it to run a backup with FFS. My FFS config automatically re-locks it after completing. I don't do any auto syncing with it, so I can audit the difference before a backup. The only way corrupted data or malware gets to that is if I neglect to check the comparison thoroughly. Along with that, the image of my machine is also encrypted itself, backed up in these multiple encrypted and sometimes air-gapped locations.
