I’ve used FreeFileSync to back up my photos for a while to a single portable hard drive. I would now like to create a pair of alternating backups, i.e. back up to one hard drive one week and then a second the next week, then start over. Do I have to create a backup for each hard drive or can I use the same one (the original) each time?
About the only complication I can think of is making sure the path on both destination hard drives is the same, but I don’t know how FreeFileSync keeps track of what it's done with those little files it creates. I can see it looking at a file on the source and saying, didn’t I copy you last week and why are you missing in the destination backup now?

Nope, that will work fine! The db files hold information about the local moves/renames, but that is all. As long as you get the same drive letter, or you name them the same and use the special [] formatting, it will be fine

I'm not sure what the pair of brackets indicates.
