Hi,
I am trying to install 13.7 over a version that was a year or more old.

It failed.
Now I can no longer run the old version

I have tried several times to get it to install and it appears to fail at the same place.

Ideas?

Pleas note - I did join over a year ago, but your forum software won't let me reset the password, it created and reset a different username - I created a seperate ticket.

Try using RevoUninstaller to uninstall FFS and remove any leftover files. Backup your configuration files just in case.

For the record: Using a third-party uninstaller is never required with FreeFileSync, nor of any benefit. There simply are no left-over files.

Of course not. You didn't provide any useful information at all.

I'm sure this is true in a perfect world. And I'm sure every developer will say the same about their software. Yet, here is a program to deal with such issues and one I have used many times in my professional career to fix issues like this. Now, this isn't saying the FFS uninstaller has any faults, but it is definitely possible that other software, Windows itself, or something else could have interfered with FFS' normal operations, leaving leftover files or registry entries in place.

I'm not aware of a single case where such a tool was helpful with regards to FreeFileSync. Suggesting it adds noise to the discussion with practially zero chance of being helpful. *)

There are no cases where it is required to uninstall FreeFileSync in order to get back to a workable state. It is always enough to simply reinstall again.

*: Results for other software may be different of course.
