FFS is a great program with plenty of Syncing options but I wondered if another option could be added which isn't Syncing, but which would complement the options already available.

Could you please add an option to Move files to another location? I want to divide my image files into RAW and Processed but already had a mixture of Raw and Processed files in one location and mainly Raw in another. FFS very easily identified all the Raw files to be transferred from the Processed location to the Raw but it would have been very messy to use FFS to Update the Raw location then go back and use another program to delete all the Raw files from the Processed location.

A Move option in FFS would accomplish this in one step and I'm sure there would be other times when sorting files in this way might be useful.

As discussed in several posts and as you write yourself, a Move falls outside the scope/objective of FFS.

Why not simply use a file manager application made for such tasks, like Windows File Explorer.
In the source sort by extension and select e.g. all Raw-files.
Or use the search function to find all Raw files (search for *.raw) and select those.
Then drag the selected files from the source to the destination location, or do a Cut/Paste (Ctrl-x/Ctrl-v).

Or use a command line:
MOVE "[PathToSourceFolder]\*.raw" "[PathToDestinationFolder]"
If you want you can save this command line into a *.bat file for later (re)use.

I confess that I would like the option to move too, I thought this option was exclusive to donors and when I made the donation I realized that I also cannot perform the option to move the file between one computer and another, which was my initial idea, I don't want the file to remain in the source folder, only in the destination folder

Hi,

My thoughts are that doing a move of a quantity of important data is too risky.

I would rather know that I successfully did a synchronize or copy to the destination before I deleted the source. Deleting the source afterwards is a piece of cake.

A Move (in the sense as: from left to right or from right to left) is not available in any of the FreeFileSync editions.
Not in the standard edition, not in the donation edition, not in the business edition.

If you're going from source to destination, & only want particular source files in particular destination directories, why not just set up multiple pairs with appropriate filters?

So you have a source of /comingled/
& two destinations of /raw/ /processed/

/comingled/ -> /raw/ with Filter *.raw
/comingled/ -> /processed/ with Filter *.live

Now, that doesn't help with already copied files on the destination, but...

The program controlling a Move operation can make it very safe by Copy/Check/Delete, so no reason not to have a Move option on security grounds.
The reason for requesting it in FFS is that FFS provides such excellent visualisation of what is about to happen and allows the file selections to be tweaked. With a wide variety of files to filter and a huge number of subdirectories involved (in my case), accomplishing this in one step would be much better than having to set more filters in other programs to delete the original files with a risk of getting it wrong. Much better to have the whole operation "under one roof" :)
