Whenever I run Synchronization in FFS and execute left click on any of the [then grayed out] main menu entries, the process gets paused
To resume it all I need to do is to click somewhere else or switch to another program

Maybe... it is more, that...
So long as focus stays on FFS, the sync is paused (& so long as there isn't some [mouse/focus] action done within FFS that causes it to resume), but as soon as focus is switched (to some other application), sync (automatically) resumes.
(So if you Alt+TAB away [from FFS], sync resumes.)

That said...It looks like what actually happens, is that the progress dialog Pauses, but the actual transfer does continue & completes as expected.
