Unable activate licence key for donation edition

How do I activate this program? As required it's been moved to the Windows program folder to which the free version of FreeFileSync is installed but won't activate. Get the same message every time that I must "extract the key file" first. But where is the key file and how do I extract it? Would appreciate advice.

You can install the FFS donation version in any accessible folder, but should not move it afterwards.

Same result. Unfortunately no provision to attach screenshots which would help. Previous download of Donation Edition deleted and then downloaded again. I haven't moved it anywhere. The FreeFileSync DE installation file plus licence key appear in the same Windows folder. When I try to install the DE I get a message saying that the installer cannot find the key file. It asks me to extract the key file into the same directory as the installer but they already are. Where do I go from here?

Extract both files, installer and key file into the same directory, without renaming any one of them. Then run the installer.

Yes, it sounds like the OP is trying to run the installer from inside the zip they are downloading.
