Cannot save sync settings in any directory on OSX

Hi there

I am running FFS 12.5 on an M1 macbook air running OSX 12.6.8.

Every time I do anything in FFS I get the spinning beachball and it will freeze temporarily. It will eventually sync a folder in a USB HDD to a folder in google drive. However, when I try to save the sync settings, I am unable to - in any directory. I get this message:

EPERM: Operation not permitted [open]

FFS has full disk access in my security settings and turning-off Trend Micro antivirus dosent help either.

Please let me know what to try next.
