While the actual job took only about twenty minutes which was along the lines of what I expected, the estimates of time were all over the place and varied wildly. At one point the time estimate was two to three days. I’d then see it drop down to hours, then minutes, and then zoom back up. I notice the process at time would look like it stalled, but it was when the transfer rate would drop down to a couple HUNDRED kilobytes a second. Other times the rate might be 20 megabytes. At then end when it said it had transferred 100% of the files I knew to wait for it to finish up its bookkeeping and tell me it had finished.
All I know is I didn’t panic and made a commitment to waiting a long time to see how it played out. I gave it time as I had made a bunch small changes, tagging andnaming to several files (photos) in many folders.
Is it normal for estimated remaining time to vary as much as by days?

There is no reason to expect that the FFS estimate would be more accurate than what e.g. Windows (File) Explorer predicts.
